Thrown on the potter's wheel before being carved in my lap by hand, this is one of my favourite vases I've ever made. Gently bellied, with a flared rim, it'd look totally delightful with a bunch of peonies or some showstopper alliums.
I made this vase in two separate pieces on the wheel (the body, and the neck) and then joined them together at the 'leatherhard' stage. It's made from high-fire gently speckled stoneware clay and covered in my classic oatmeal glaze. Where the iron speckles have intereacted with the glaze the speckles have flashed, appearing them to be ever so slightly blurred.
Glazed inside and out (and therefore waterproof), it's finished with my maker's mark on the base.
